Tom Misch had once lost his hard drive in Paris. Simple as that. It’s the original concept of his newest gem “Lost In Paris” – the final track from his debut album Geography, coming this Friday, April 6.
The soulful and breezy track features a verse from acclaimed US rapper GoldLink, who returns a favour, after Misch produced the beat on his 2015 track “New Black”. “Tom is a man of many talents. A true innovator and he has such an ear for music, perhaps more than any of his peers,” says the rapper, happy to contribute to the album.
The laid-back melody sounds nostalgic, with Misch singing “I hope you’re warm and safe/The memory I can’t replace”. The lyrics are supposedly dedicated to all the new music, which was saved on his lost hard drive, though it’s open to interpetation – losing, missing something or someone is always a painful feeling.
“Lost In Paris” will be featured on Geography, which also includes collaborations with Loyle Carner, De La Soul, Poppy Ajudha and more. Tom Misch continues his tour and heads out to the US next week, where most of the shows are already sold out. The year is big for this 22-year-old musical genius, and it’s only the beginning.
