Coming on the back of support from the likes of BBC 1Xtra, GRM Daily and Link Up TV for his previous releases “Neva Switch Sides” and “RckPprSxxrs/Love Jones”, 21-year old South London Hip Hop artist Tops Mafioso returns with his first single of 2016 titled “Be Alright” and its accompanying music video.
Produced by Gravez, “Be Alright” sees Tops Mafioso sharing tales of inner city London living with his listeners, as he waxes lyrical about the trials he is facing on his journey for artistic freedom. Backed by a soulful and vibrant musical backdrop, Mafioso flexes his lyrical dexterity and storytelling skills to great effect on “Be Alright”.
For the visuals, Tops Mafioso collaborates with Chrison Dhill to give the listener a glimpse into a day in his life – from “the block where we hang out” as he raps on the record, to laying tracks down at the studio, to shelling it down on stage. Describing the motivation for ‘Be Alright’, Mafioso explains simply, “success against all odds”.
With a collaborative EP with producer Code-E, a solo debut project, and more visuals scheduled for release this year, Tops Mafioso has started the year on top form – how he means to carry it on. Look out for plenty goodness from the emerging South London rapper, in the meantime, enjoy the visuals for “Be Alright” below.
