TV On The Radio’s Nine Types Of Light, released in 2011 was definitely one of my favourite records of that year. Echoing titles of the past such as Dear Science, Return To Cookie Mountain, Desperate Youth, and Blood Thirsty Babes; Nine Types Of Light was another album that reinforced the band’s style, essentially, one that cannot be defined by a single genre alone, something I personally couldn’t wait for their future releases.
Two years later, frontman Tunde Adebimpe announced the band’s plans to record once more, releasing a single later that year entitled “Mercy”, and then announcing forthcoming album Seeds. Now the band have released a video for their latest single “Happy Idiot” and by god is it everything I hoped and expected for and more. Starring Karen Gillan and Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman), the video chronicles a Speed Racer-like mental breakdown of a racing driver. You can watch it below, and pre-order Seeds here.
