Two Door Cinema Club finally fed us some details of their upcoming album last night along with giving us a new single to sink our teeth.
Citing influences from the likes of Bowie and Prince, frontman Alex Trimble has said the new album Gameshow looks to break from the strictures of current pop in pursuit of a more experimental sound.
Smooth-running riffs, a groovy bassline and driving kick drum underline a song whose lyrical intention is to expose the unchecked materialism of our modern day society. The song, then, marks a new level of sophistication for the Irish three-piece, who have released a string of successful albums and EPs in the past, but have been somewhat secretive since releasing Changing of the Seasons back in 2013.
Still, as Geri the Toy Repairman says in Toy Story 2: “You can’t rush art”, so relax, find your seat and prepare for what could be a hotly tipped album for 2016.
