Ty Dolla $ign has released the music video for his new single “Purple Emoji” featuring J. Cole. His new single comes on the back of massive legal trouble after he was arrested last year in Atlanta for possession of drugs. The “Zaddy” singer managed to avoid prison after agreeing to enter a rehab program. These events surely slowed down his music projects, but he is making a return with “Purple Emoji”
“Purple Emoji” debuted on streaming platform on Tuesday to rave reviews for Ty Dolla $ign, while heavyweight rapper J. Cole continues on his hot streak of hit singles in the past few months as he recently put his flow on “A Lot” with 21 Savage and “The London” with Travis Scott and Young Thug.
Together, Ty Dolla $ign and J. Cole deliver a smooth sound for the track, which was produced by MXXWLL. With heavy soul influences, both artists captures the charm of the tune that celebrates love. The song aims to put love at the forefront just before the summer, as they reflect – led by sensual lyrics – on relationships with their significant others.
The visual for the track celebrates love in many ways, and shows couples of different ethnicities, sexual orientations and different ages, kissing passionately in front of the camera. Ty Dolla $ign is reportedly working on a new album, and we hope it will be out soon. In the meantime, watch the video for “Purple Emoji” below.
