Tyler Perry has landed the actors to lead his Netflix project A Jazzman’s Blues, with Joshua Boone and Solea Pfeiffer confirmed in the lead roles.
It has been 26 years since Perry first wrote the script, but he wanted to wait for the perfect moment to release this huge project. “I have waited a quarter of a century to tell this story and now is a perfect time and Netflix is the perfect partner”, he said about the wait.
It will not be his first collaboration with Netflix, following the movie Fall From Grace, which was a huge sensation with more than 39 million households in its first month.
He first wrote the script for himself, Will Smith, Halle Berry, Diana Ross and Ben Kingsley to star, but by filming it over two decades after, he has changed his mind and decided to focus on young and fresh actors.
The movie is dealing with a 1937 to 1987 story, which is about an investigation into an unsolved murder and forbidden love with many twists and turns. It will be produced in Tyler Perry’s studios in Atlanta and will be launched later this year on Netflix. We cannot wait to hear more about the details of this project!
