UK Afrobeats Rising Artist Maulo Unveils New Track ‘Roll It’

You might remember his latest single “Ambition” as the ring walk song that British boxing sensation Anthony Joshua walked out to, in front of over 60,000 people, before his first fight with Oleksandr Usyk last September.

That song, which fast-rising UK afrobeats artist and songwriter Maulo created in collaboration with Under Armour, charted at #3 on Shazam across the world, has gone on to be played over half a million times online, and has seen Maulo garner acclaim and rave reviews from the likes of GQ, Capital Xtra, Sky Sports, and Notion Magazine, among others.

Now signed to Tenwest, Maulo is back with a glorious new single titled “Roll It” as he begins to lay the building blocks for the release of his highly anticipated sophomore EP, which is set to arrive early next year.

Produced by Specialist Moss (Shy FX, Zed Bias, Mr. Williamz), “Roll It” is driven by infectious percussion drums and lush synths, over which Maulo is in flying form with his catchy flow and delivery. The crooner is in a celebratory mood as he beckons his leading lady to come and have a dance with him, in a nod to afrobeat’s massive dance community that inspired him to write the song.

With over two million online plays already under his belt, and support from tastemakers such as GQ, Notion Magazine, Capital Xtra and GRM Daily, Maulo is coming into his own as one of the most exciting new voices of afrobeats coming out of the UK.

The London artist of Nigerian heritage draws inspiration from afrobeats legends like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido, and leans into his penchant for fusing the classic pan-african sounds he has grown up on, with contemporary UK black music to create an infectious afrobeats sound that is quintessentially Maulo.
