Emerging Cameroonian singer Laetitia Tamko also known as Vagabon in the world of music, released her first album Infinite Worlds in 2017 and established her place in the indie rock music scene.
It hasn’t even been two years since her first debut album and a sophomore record is on its way. The next album is called Vagabon and will arrive on October 18 via Nonesuch. Before the release date, she has launched a taste of the project, with the songs “Water Me Down”, “Flood” and now “Every Woman”.
The latter has just been released alongside an official music video. With her deep voice singing gently on fluttering synths, she is the main character of the clip. Vagabon leaves an instant mark, simply by singing “All the women I meet are fired up / They get ready to kill with / their luck,”.
The tune expands itself quietly as the scenes follow her singing in a bulb set in a lonely wood. As she revealed to Pitchfork, the song not only refers to the women, but also to “everyone who has been ostracized and marginalized and cast to the side.” She wrote the song to make “black people, trans people, queer people, non binary people, survivors of sexual assault” feel seen.
