Victoria Pedretti (The Haunting Of Bly Manor) has signed on to play the lead in upcoming Hulu drama series, Saint X. The show will consist of eight episodes and is based on the 2020 novel of the same name by Alexis Schaitkin.
The book is a psychological drama that follows the ripple effects caused by a young women’s death while on a tropical vacation, and her sister who sets out on a mission to find the truth. Pedretti will play the main character, but a younger actress will have to portray her in flashbacks, as she’s only seven years old when her college-aged sister’s death occurs and becomes national news.
Years later, she has a fateful encounter with a man who was originally suspected to be the killer. She then follows him, determined to find out the truth about what happened to her sister. However, things get complicated when she begins to form an attachment with him after seeing how both of their lives have been marked by the tragedy.
Dee Rees (Mudbound) was already attached to direct the series, which now has a writer in the form of Leila Gerstein (The Handmaid’s Tale, Gossip Girl).
Not only does the show sound compelling, but Pedretti is a great pick as she’s quietly become a streaming TV queen. She starred in both The Haunting Of Hill House and The Haunting Of Bly Manor, and also led the seasons 2 and 3 of crime-romance series You.
All of those were for Netflix, and were very popular, so Hulu is hoping Pedretti can bring that same luck over to them.
