Vin Diesel has revealed on Instagram that ass-kicking anti-hero Riddick will be coming back for a fourth film entitled Furia. Not only did he announce the next instalment but also a TV series spin-off called Mere City. “Last night Our company had a party to launch Our TV division. Very exciting. MERC CITY is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe. Next Month, DT begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick… FURIA”.
“DT” being director/screenwriter David Twohy, who penned and brought the previous Riddick films to life. Riddick first graced our screens back in 2000 in Pitch Black, and even though the franchise hasn’t done big business at the box office the series has attained a large cult following. The last film in the franchise Riddick saw our hero left for dead on a desolate planet. After activating an emergency beacon he attracts two ships, one carrying mercenaries and the other a man from his past. Diesel is currently working on Furious 8 and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage.
