MGM’s meta-remake The Town That Dreaded Sundown has now released its first official trailer. From producers Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story) and Jason Blum (Insidious, Paranormal Activity), the film will take place 65 years after the original 1976 cult classic and will see the infamous Phantom Killer return to Texarkana as he begins to wreak havoc once again.
The trailer features high school student Jami, played by Californication actress Addison Timlin, as she delves further into the sequence of murders that took place in her home town years ago. Filled with beautiful wide angle shots as the last glimmer of light begins to decline from the deserted streets, the pace ignites and allows the viewer to divulge in brief moments of horror. The final words of the trailer belong to its white hooded antagonist as he says, “I’m going to do it again and again until you make them remember”.
Set for release on October 16th, the film will see American Horror Story director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon make his feature-length debut, and we’re just hoping this film will not join an unfortunate chain of unjustified horror reboots.
