Watch New Trailer For Hip-Hop Movie ‘Dope’ Starring Zoë Kravitz | Film Trailer

The new trailer for Rick Famuyiwa’s breakout flick Dope is pretty much unlike anything I’ve seen before. This movie, which has become a smash hit with Sundance audiences, tells the charming coming of age story about the post hip-hop generation, jam packed with pop culture references from the 1980s and 1990s.

Starring Zoe Kravitz, Shameik Moore, Blake Anderson, with narration from Forrest Whitaker, check out the official synopsis; “Malcolm (Shameik Moore) is carefully surviving life in a tough neighbourhood in Los Angeles while juggling college applications, academic interviews, and the SAT. A chance invitation to an underground party leads him into an adventure that could allow him to go from being a geek, to being dope, to ultimately being himself”.

The trailer is completely nuts but ridiculously intriguing and already promises a killer soundtrack. From the teaser, it’s hard to know exactly what kind of movie you’re getting but I appreciate something a little different and I crush hard on Zoe Kravitz so that’s always a win. Pharrell Williams has also contributed four new songs to the movie so that’s definitely going to work in its favour! Curious? Me too, Dope hits theatres on June 19.
