The first official teaser trailer for Barbie, the upcoming film starring Margot Robbie, has been made public.
The teaser for the eagerly awaited new film, which stars the 32-year-old actress as the recognisable fashion doll, was released by Warner Bros on Friday morning (December 16).
The opening shot of the Barbie teaser features Margot donning the recognisable black and white bikini that the original Barbie doll wore.
She is overshadowing the beachgoers as she stands on the sand. A young girl who slams her baby dolls onto the ground is winked at by Margot’s Barbie. The Barbie title card appears when the girl launches the doll into the air.
The trailer also gives us our first look at Ryan Gosling as Ken, Barbie’s boyfriend, as well as early looks at Simu Liu and Issa Rae. Plot information for the film are currently being kept a secret.
While the teaser doesn’t go into great detail about the plot, it does give us a brief glimpse of the fantastical world made of plastic in which the character lives and a first look at Ryan Gosling as Ken, Barbie’s love interest.
The film’s script was co-written by Greta Gerwig and her longterm partner Noah Baumbach.
