Weezer Singer Rivers Cuomo’s TV Show Dropped By Fox | Music News

Earlier this year, it was revealed that FOX had commissioned a pilot for a sitcom based on Rivers Cuomo’s own experience of being a rockstar, who decides to leave his band and go to college. The pilot, titled Detour featured appearances of Ben Aldridge cast as Cuomo and Peter Gallagher as a college professor, but Cuomo has confirmed that the TV series has been dropped by FOX, without even airing.

Cuomo recently told Vulture, “It’s weird; in music if you make an album and your label decides not to put it out, you can bring it to another label and sometimes it can be a big success. At least it gets out. In TV, I’ve learned, it’s not like that. The pilot was made, completely finished, and we can’t show it to anybody! No one will ever see it. It’s a huge waste of money“. Vulture did however reveal that the Weezer vocalist does have plans to keep busy following the bad news, hosting Nerd Night’s, an event where he screens productions and adaptions of Shakespeare classics.
