Amongst his busy schedule, Will Smith has managed to dedicate some time to first love. According to HipHopDX, Smith revealed that he has re-kindled his musical relationship with once partner DJ Jazzy Jeff and has been working on some new music for at least six months now.
Before Will Smith was the iconic, blockbuster of an actor that he is now, he started out as a rapper under the stage name The Fresh Prince. Alongside his childhood friend DJ Jazzy Jeff, they released their first single “Girls Ain’t Nothing but Trouble” in 1986 and then went on to garner huge success including multiple Grammy wins.
Putting music aside to focus on his acting, Smith excelled on the small and big screen. With the duo’s last proper collaboration coming back in 1998 with “Lovely Daze”, a reunion between the two will be more than welcomed.
“I’ve been sniffing around it,” Will told HipHopDX. “I’ve been getting hyped about it. It [has] been a minute. I’ve been full in the actor’s mind so me and Jeff start going out a little bit in the last six-to-eight months [and] we’ve been doing something. I just gotta find that lane; find that way back in. It’s a part of my heart. I love it. I make records all the time. I got a ton of stuff that I make at the house. It’s just not stuff that I’m hyped about to be able to feel comfortable letting it into the world. I’m trying to find that inspiration, that thing that sparks me to get back [to music].”
In the meantime, make sure you check out his latest movie, Bright, coming to Netflix on December 22 and stay tuned for more news regarding Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
