Will Smith is already known for his acting chops and music. But now it seems that he could be adding ‘Politician’ to his already broad resume. In an interview with CBS’ Sunday Morning, Smith revealed that he might be taking cue from Kayne West and setting his sights on the Oval Office – that’s if people don’t stop saying crazy things.
“If people keep saying all the crazy kinds of stuff they’ve been saying on the news lately about walls and Muslims, they’re going to force me into the political arena“, he said. When asked what position he would be aiming for he responded, “I mean, I gotta be the President. Come on“! Smith said, adding, “What else would I run for?”
Speaking of dreaming big Smith revealed that he has always encouraged his children to aim high, “I tell my kids, ‘Be as unrealistic as possible, and then figure out how to make it real“, he said. “The best things that have ever happened, ever, were unrealistic before they happened. So for me, I think being the biggest movie star in the world as a goal actually was too small“!
Smith can be next seen in the upcoming sports-drama Concussion as Dr. Bennet Omalu – a forensic neuropathologist who unveils the truth about brain damage in football players, who suffer repeated concussions due to the ferocity of the game. While his performance has critics buzzing, he feels he has more to offer. Having realized his dream of becoming a big movie star, Smith reveals that he has more to accomplish.
“What else am I going to do? I realized that the dream was too small“, he revealed. “I realized that there was no way that I was put here just to be a movie star“. Whether he makes it all the way to the White House remains to be seen. Until then, watch the full interview below. Concussion is slated for a February 12, 2016 release in the UK.
