Each of the Planet Of The Apes prequels has undergone a dramatic change in setting and cast, with only Andy Serkis’ terrific motion-capture performance as Caesar remaining each time. After Rise of the Planet of the Apes, we said goodbye to James Franco and Freida Pinto, whilst the plot details to War Of The Planet Of The Apes are vague as to whether or not any humans from Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes will return.

What we do know is that Woody Harrelson has signed on to play the human villain in War of the Planet of the Apes, the epic final prequel that promises full-on ape vs. human carnage. Harrelson’s character is called The Colonel – and that is all the information that has been revealed. After taking over the directorial reigns with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Matt Reeves is back behind the camera for this concluding chapter, which is set to hit screens on July 14, 2017.
