YouTube today announced the launch of two new YouTube Originals on the platform for later this year and next year. The series will feature big names such as Will Smith and Alicia Keys.
The reality series starring Will Smith, is called Shape Of My Life and will follow the actor’s journey to getting into better physical shape. He will even have the opportunity to meet scientists and athletes to help him on his journey. The goal of this six-part series is obviously to promote physical activity and a healthier lifestyle. The series is slated for release in 2022.
This is not the first time that Will Smith has been in a Youtube Original. He had already collaborated with the platform in 2018.
As for Alicia Keys, she will participate in a documentary in four episodes, which will take us behind the scenes of the creation of her new album. This new production will be broadcast from this summer on YouTube.
Produced in partnership with Westbrook Media, Alicia Keys will bring the past 20 years to surface with performances and behind-the-scenes footage, per YouTube.
But that’s not all, there will be a YouTube docuseries titled Ice Cold, from executive producers Migos, which will use the prism of hip-hop jewellry to highlight deeper issues around racial inequity and the American dream.
More series are to be expected, notably with Youtube stars such as Liza Koshy, with season three of Liza On Demand.
LeBron James is also set to executive produce Recipe For Change with with Maverick Carter. The aim of the series is to talk about the API Community (Asian/Pacific Islander community) and discuss the recent and historic acts of hate and violence against them.
In any case, a lot of things are to be expected for YouTube Originals in the coming years!
