Despite the most recent trailer for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice being highly criticised by fans for revealing too many spoilers, director Zack Snyder has defended his beloved creation; insisting that the trailer featuring the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight in a superhero smackdown doesn’t spoil the film.
The trailer was widely criticised for allegedly revealing a good proportion of the movie’s storyline, including the first meeting of Henry Cavill‘s Clark Kent, Ben Affleck‘s Bruce Wayne and Jesse Eisenberg‘s Lex Luthor. It also appears to show that Batman and Superman will eventually resolve their highly anticipated conflict, leading to an alliance in which the duo will team up with Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman to battle a greater foe.
Speaking in an interview with MTV, Snyder seemed to understand the allegations, but insisted that we certainly have a lot more to look forward to: “It’s cool that fans think it’s too much, and I appreciate people not wanting to know, but there’s plenty that they don’t know. There’s a lot of movie that’s not in the trailer“.
He continued, hinting that the trailer did not even begin to tell the story of the new Luthor, who is set to be the film’s antagonist: “In the trailer, of course he comes across in a very specific way. In the movie, he’s like a million times more sophisticated than what you get in 30 seconds. But that’s also the fun of it. You go to the movies so you can see the context and understand the depth“.
Catch Batman vs Superman in cinemas on 25th March. In the meantime, watch the trailer below:
