Actress Lynda Bellingham Dies After Battle With Cancer | TV News

All Creatures Great And Small actress Lynda Bellingham has sadly died. According to her agent, the 66 year old passed away “peacefully in her husbands arms” at a local London hospital after battling colon cancer since July 2013. She announced in September that the disease metastasized to her lungs and liver, but she wished to cease her chemotherapy treatment in November, to be able to spend one last Christmas with her family.

Best know for playing the mother in the Oxo adverts, Bellingham also had career highlights in Strictly Come Dancing, ITV’s Loose Women, sitcom Faith In The Future as well as performing a lead role in the stage version on Tim Firth and Juliette Towhidi’s Calendar Girls. Earlier this year, Bellingham also received an OBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace in recognition of over 40 years of acting and presenting within the industry.

Many tributes have been pouring in today, including from Loose Women and Strictly Come Dancing stars, and a comment from Hot Fuzz star Simon Pegg who acted alongside the screen actress in 90’s show Faith In The Future. “Lynda Bellingham, a gorgeous, brassy, funny, generous, talented human being. My first TV mother figure and a treasured friend” said Pegg. Our thoughts are with Lynda’s friends and family.
