Blumhouse Unveils R-Rated Trailer For ‘Sinister II’ | Film Trailer
A sinister looking r-rated trailer has been released online, for the sequel to Scott Derrickson’s 2012 horror flick Sinister, which is written by Derrickson but this time is directed by Ciaran Foy – with backing from horror masters Blumhouse Productions – who brought us the Insidious, Paranormal Activity and The Purge franchises.
Foy, in an interview with Empire, stated: “The mythology in the second film is explored more in terms of the mechanics of how Bughuul’s curse works. You find out a little bit more about him and how he operates: the mythology in terms of the kill films and the meaning behind them as sacrificial offerings is expanded upon. There’s a new character called Jonas, who imparts some new information“.
The original film follows a true-crime writer who finds a stash of 8mm home movie films which contain footage surrounding the murder that he was investigating at the time – and the serial killer demon Bughuuls’ past crimes. Sinister II takes place in the aftermath of the events of the first film, a protective mother and her twin sons move into a house that the Bughuul is residing in. Sinister II is set for an August 21 release. You can watch the trailer below.
