First Photo Released For ‘Jigsaw’, Further Details Released | Film News

Audiences are yet to receive a trailer for Jigsaw, the eighth installment of the Saw series, set to debut this Halloween. Instead, we’ll have to settle for a newly released photo and details, courtesy of directors Michael and Peter Spierig (Daybreakers (2009), Predestination (2014)).

Peter Spierig told Entertainment Weekly “Bodies are turning up, and they’re linked to Jigsaw, or a Jigsaw copycat. The DNA of Tobin Bell is all over this film.”

It hasn’t officially been confirmed whether Tobin Bell, the actor behind Jigsaw/John Kramer (who died in Saw III), will appear in the film, but he most probably will even if only in flashbacks. Spierig rather ambiguously reported that “the DNA of Tobin Bell is all over this film“. Bell has already been credited on IMDB and will be making appearances at signing in the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, so it’s likely he’ll appear in some entity. Also, see title.

We can certainly expect his puzzles to make a return. This time, Michael Spierig exclaims, “we’ve got some pretty wild traps in the film — we don’t shy away from the gore“. And yet, Spierig also noted that the film is “perhaps not quite as vicious and more fun”, so I’m even more puzzled on what to expect, but it looks to be interesting with the release of this photo of Laura Vandervoort‘s character in the film.

Jigsaw will premiere in theatres, after the franchise’s seven year hiatus, on October 27. Until then
