Kurt Russell Favourite To Play Star-Lord’s Father In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ | Film News
Despite Kurt Russell not having read a script yet, nor has Director James Gunn formally asked him, TheWrap reports that Russell is Gunn’s first choice to fulfil the role of Star Lord’s dad. Big news! Or it would be if there was, in fact, any news. Similar to the rumours that Idris Elba might be considered as the next James Bond (please let that rumour pan out!) or that Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel were fan favourites to play Christian Grey and Anastacia Steele in 50 Shades of Grey, these things are merely rumours and hearsay until these actors sign on the dotted line.
I would love for Kurt Russell, 80s heartthrob and Hollywood veteran, to have a role in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I would love Russell to be involved in any franchise I love. But schedules, life, and industry rubbish can get in the way and someone completely unexpected can take the role. So until The Wrap, or any other source, reliably reports that he is IN ACTUAL FACT on board, I won’t get excited. This isn’t news, and it irritates me that it’s being painted that way.
