The widely anticipated adaptation to 2013’s most critically acclaimed videogames has seemingly run into some problems, and there might actually be a chance that we wouldn’t be able to see it at all.

According to Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckman, director of The Last of Us and Uncharted 4, the film has not made any progression in over a year. Speaking with IGN, he stated “I know I said in an interview a while back we had a table read, got the script to a good place and it kind of entered development hell like these things tend to do, there hasn’t been any work done on it in over a year and a half”.

The videogame received positive attention from various outlets due to its narrative and themes, making use of the ‘post-apocalyptic’ world and really shattering the emotions of its audience.

Druckman who is also heading the film stated that the adaptation will not follow the exact plot of the game, but is intended to deliver the very same tone. Though many other details have been kept under wraps since its initial announcement back in 2014, rumours have it that GoT star Maisie Williams is set to play the role of Ellie.
