‘The Office’ Named Best Show Of The Past 20 Years | TV News

The Office, the dry awkward comedy that was an all too human recipe for disaster has won a Broadcast Award for being the best show in 20 years. The Office was set in Slough, and its lead character was the loveable loser David Brent. The show managed to well, make you laugh, but also do a death cringe, like where you bite your hand a bit too hard at the extra excruciating scenes, and it too made you gut churn, as in that weird teary feeling, when the unsung heroes of show had their day of glory. The Office is credited for launching the careers of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, and it later generated a hit US spin off starring Steve Carell.
