Last week The Strokes released Future Present Past, their first record since their 2013’s Comedown Machine. The EP was well received and contains 3 new songs by the band and a remix.

The band planned to release a music video for the song “OBLIVIUS” but it was revealed by frontman Julian Casablancas that The Strokes were forced to stop the music video because of its political content.

Speaking on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show he goes on to say, “Well we were going to do ‘OBLIVIUS’ first and we had all this kind of super heavy political content and then it kinda of through different indirect corridors got shutdown”.

Casablancas did not go into further detail as who or how it was stopped. The band have decided to make a music video for their song “Threat of Joy” instead.
