Alicia Keys strips it all back for her new single “Hallelujah”. After premiering the song on Saturday Night Live back in May, the “Girl on Fire” singer has released a stream of the her latest power ballad, which comes a month after dance hit “In Common”.
Keys goes back to basics after the success of her airy dance number, as the piano chords and light instrumental in “Hallelujah” allows the R&B singer to showcase her powerful vocals from the outset. Particularly towards the end of the song Key’s vocals dominate with a certain soul as she sings, “Hallelujah, hallelujah let me in” alongside some rhythmic claps which almost resemble those of a gospel choir.
Alicia is currently gearing for the release of her sixth studio album, although the date is still to be confirmed. Take a listen to the studio version of “Hallelujah” below.
