Hugo Brijs Releases Vintage Cinema-Inspired Indie Rock Single ‘Creeper’

Composer and recording artist Hugo Brijs is back with his first solo release in some time, a psychedelic indie rock single titled “Creeper,” released on April 5, 2024.

Known for his expansive work in TV and film, Brijs’ latest venture encapsulates a blend of nostalgic and modern musical elements, promising a fresh auditory experience for his audience.

Following his success in various media projects for platforms like the BBC, Channel 4, Netflix, and the BFI, and co-founding the music production company Thunderdrum, Brijs has consistently shown his versatility and prowess in the music industry.

His contributions have not only earned him a spot on the long list for a British Independent Film Award but have also led to collaborations with high-profile brands like Calvin Klein and Lacoste.

“Creeper” marks a continuation of the thematic exploration from his 2021 album “Glitra,” delving deeper into identity and relationships. This track sets the stage with its Caledonian Soul-like guitar riffs and a 70’s rhythm section, enhanced by live strings recorded with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, giving it a cinematic breadth reminiscent of iconic artists like T-Rex and Ennio Morricone.

The song itself tells a compelling story of a femme fatale gangster, capturing the essence of vintage cinema with its rich narrative and psychedelic touches. This single serves as a precursor to Brijs’ forthcoming album, which is set to delve further into his introspective journey and musical evolution.

As the first glimpse of what’s to come, “Creeper” embodies Brijs’ unique ability to blend his film scoring experience with his personal artistic style, setting the scene for an eagerly anticipated album release later this year.
