‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’: Tumultuous Production Finally Comes To A Close | Film News

The Han Solo spinoff movie has seen an all but smooth journey in its production, and after being named only this week, Solo: A Star Wars Story has finally wrapped. Ron Howard announced the news on Twitter, showing the cast to have rightfully celebrated with a fireworks show after the rough ride.

Ron Howard, of course, only joined the project after original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were fired over “creative differences”, though the move was hardly a disaster for the pair who have found an abundance of other projects since (including a rewrite of The Lego Movie Sequel).

The reshuffling did, however, force some delay in the production, though we’ll have to wait and see whether it impacted the togetherness of the overall film.

It wasn’t the only blip in the galaxy. Panic also ensued when it was revealed that Lucasfilm had to hire an acting coach for young Han Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich mid-production. His performance was said to at first have displeased the studio, and with the character being so iconic, clearly though that drastic measures were needed to get his acting in line.

Again, the impact of the move – if it changed anything at all – won’t be seen by fans until the film finally airs next year. There’s certainly a lot of anticipation from the film, and the drama around production has only made audiences more anxious. Now that filming has officially wrapped, however (or so we hope), fans can rest assured and wait patiently for the final product.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will hit theaters May 25, 2018.
