Award-winning Afro Pop diva Nathalie Makoma is a consummate veteran by all accounts, with a stellar career spanning over 20 years, having begun her singing career in Germany at the age of seven as part of The Makoma Kids, and won her first KORA Africa Award as far back as in 2002. The Pop diva, who has over 100,000 fans on Facebook, also reached the finals of the Dutch Pop Idol in 2008, and the finals of Dancing with the Stars in 2009, among other international accolades.
While her peers are still clamouring for international label deals, Nathalie Makoma has been there and done that – she was signed to Sony Music and released the chart-topping single “I Won’t Forget” which sat at the top of the Holland singles chart for four weeks. Also a prolific live performer, Nathalie has toured the globe from Australia, Germany and Russia to Africa and Asia to Brazil, Fiji and America.
With her credentials never in doubt and no further points to prove, Nathalie Makoma returns in 2014 – on her own label Goody Goody Records co-owned with Don Biggalow and Sir Lord Frankie Osborn – with her brand new single titled “One More Try”, written and produced by Nathalie herself. A heart breaking love song, “One More Try” sees Nathalie trying to win back her man, after mistakenly becoming caught up with another man.
Shot on location in London and directed by George Guise – for Visionnaire Pictures – who has created visuals for the likes of Tiwa Savage, Tuface, Bridget Kelly and Sean Tizzle, the “One More Try” visuals are the perfect treatment for Natalie Makoma’s classic tale about love, heart break and forgiveness all in one. Enjoy “One More Try” below and marvel at Nathalie Makoma’s glorious return to African music!
