Netflix adds to its highly anticipated features on their 2018 lineup with the announcement of a new Hip-Hop documentary series titled Rapture. The new eight part series, produced by American media and content company Mass Appeal will dive deep into the lives of a select group of hip-hop heavyweights, focusing on rappers’ personal as well as professional lives.
Under the spotlight are wide array of different artists spanning ages, eras and styles. The lineup includes 2018 Grammy nominated rappers Logic and Rapsody, Hip-Hop mainstays Nas, T.I. and 2 Chainz as well as newer artists Dave East, G-Eazy, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie as well as others. It will showcase the artists in daily life and will all 8 episodes will premier March 30.
Sacha Jenkins, one of the show’s directors, had this to say:
“Way back, when hip-hop culture was in its gestational phase, the powerful message therein didn’t go much further than the five boroughs of New York City. Today, rap music is the heartbeat of Mother Earth, and Netflix is the embodiment of the eyes from which she sees.”
