Netflix has released the first trailer for their latest Original Film, When We First Met. It stars Adam Devine as Noah, a man who has a perfect night with Avery (Alexandra Daddario), only to fail to make a move at the right time, and ending up just friends. However, years later he figures out a way to travel back in time and do things over again, leading to expected shenanigans.
There’s certainly a very Groundhog Day vibe to the trailer posted below, though despite Devine and Daddario’s talents it is hard to imagine When We First Met reaching the heights of the 90s classic. However, judge for yourself:
The film is written by John Whittington (The Lego Batman Movie), and is helmed by director Ari Sandel, whose previous film The Duff also had a trailer – and premise – that looked pretty bad, only for the eventual film to turn out to be rather solid. Hopefully Sandel just has bad luck with poorly cut trailers and the case turns out to be the same again here.
The film also stars Robbie Amell, Shelley Henning and Andrew Bachelor. Despite this being the first trailer, Netflix subscribers won’t have to wait long to see the film, as it arrives on all Netflix territories Friday, February 9. Just in time for Valentine’s Day.
