Ridley Scott is often a busy director with multiple projects in the pipeline. He’s in talks to add another to what’s likely an ever-growing list. Per The Wrap, he’s in talks to direct an adaptation of Greg Rucka‘s comic book spy thriller, Queen & Country.
Queen & Country was one of the most acclaimed titles of the early 2000s, and follows on an operative named Tara Chace, a top British Intelligence agent who is used as bait to draw out an international terrorist after an attack on London.
The project has been in development for a while now, as far back as 2007 when Craig Viveiros was set to direct with a post-Juno Ellen Page in line to star. Neither of them are currently involved in the project, and if Scott does indeed intent to direct this, the role of Chase will be a very sought after role.
However, as mentioned, Scott has plenty of other projects in the pipeline he could choose to direct next. There’s the possibility of another Alien film, the Merlin saga for Disney, or potentially another Blade Runner film. Right now he’s reportedly focused on directing The Cartel, a gritty, dense police drama that offers a fictional account of real-life drug lord, El Chapo.
Scott helming the Queen & Country adaptation does sound exciting, but we’ll have to wait and see if that is indeed his next project. If it’s not, whatever his next film is will still likely be worth seeing.
