There’s trouble with the Snowpiercer TV adaptation. Having shot the pilot, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson is refusing to return to the show for reshoots over the series’ vision under its new showrunner, Graeme Mason.
The director sent out this tweet, referencing former showrunner Josh Friedman, who exited the show in January before being replaced by Orphan Black co-creator Mason.
The 72-page Snowpiercer TV pilot script by @Josh_Friedman is the best I’ve ever read. The feature-length pilot I made from that script may be my best work.
The new show runner has a radically different vision for the show. I am forgoing my option to direct the extreme reshoots.

Creative differences were blamed for Friedman’s exit from the show. Mason is reportedly planning some serious retooling of the series and that seems to have disappointed Derrickson. It’s unknown as of right now what the TNT series is planning to do; try and persuade Derrickson to return or simply hire a new director for the reshoots?
The Snowpiercer series is based on the 2013 Bong Joon-ho film of the same name, set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland. It revolves around the remnants of humanity who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that travels the globe and divides people into carriages by social status. Jennifer Connolly and Daveed Diggs are set to star in the series.
TNT has yet to set a premiere date for the series and this news may only delay the show further.
