A24 has announced a fascinating cast for a fascinating film. Ilana Glazer, Justin Theroux, and Pierce Brosnan are all on board to star in a psychological horror movie titled False Positive.
Glazer and Theroux will reportedly play a couple struggling to conceive a child. They go to see Brosnan’s fertility doctor, who turns out to be crazy and tricks the couple by getting the woman pregnant with his own sperm. There’s no word if the film is based on the true story of Donald Cline, a fertility doctor who used his own sperm to inseminate approximately 50 women between the 1970s and 1980s.
John Lee (Pee-wee’s Big Holiday) will direct from a script he wrote with Glazer, and production is due to start next week in New York. Josh Hamilton, Gretchen Mol, Sophia Bush, and Zainab Jah are all part of the supporting cast.
A24 has had a great run of horror films in recent years. They’ve released titles such as Hereditary, The Witch, and Green Room. It’s probably fair to say that the premise of False Positive tops all of those from a horror standpoint, and has the chance to be something truly scary and sickening.
The project has been under wraps, hence why news regarding it has only surfaced a week prior to production. There’s currently no word on a release date, but expect False Positive to be at least extremely memorable when it finally hits cinemas.
