Netflix have dropped the trailer for the second season of She’s Gotta Have It. The ongoing series which is produced and directed by Spike Lee, which reinvents his 1986 breakout film of the same name. Spike Lee has been busy this year, the director recently won an Oscar award Best Screenplay for BlacKkKlansman and he’s also working on a new movie with Chadwick Boseman.
The new trailer reveals that Nola Darling (DeWanda Wise) is back, with her crew and her former lovers. While season 1 left us prominently focused toward Nola and a complicated polyamorous relationship with Mars (Anthony Ramos), Jamie (Lyriq Bent), and Greer (Cleo Anthony). In the end, she chose to continue her affair with Opal ((Ilfenesh Hadera).
This season seems firmly focused on her journey to find her artistic voice that emphasises on trying to create art of great value and balancing the personal relationship in her life on her terms, with her girlfriend, Opal and Opal’s daughter. Along the way, she has help from her close friends Shemekka (Chyna Layne) and Clorinda (Margot Bingham).
Two years later, it’s time to see whatever Nola still has yet to face. As with season 1, Netflix has opted for a holiday release for the season. After initially premiering season 1 on Thanksgiving Day, the show is returning just in time for Memorial Day weekend this year. Watch the trailer for the season 2 below.
