The first trailer for the 25th Bond film, No Time To Die, has arrived. Cary Joji Fukunaga co-writes and directs Daniel Craig‘s final performance as 007, and some familiar faces are back to see him off. Léa Seydoux and Christoph Waltz reprise their roles from Spectre along with series regulars Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, and Ralph Fiennes.
Obviously the major question is how will Fukunaga (and co-writers Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Scott Z. Burns, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge) see Craig’s Bond off? Is death on the cards as the title implies? Bringing back Seydoux’s love interest to link back to the previous film certainly seems likely to link to some sort of definite closure.
There’s a lot going on in the trailer, but it’s cut together well enough to not give too many important plot points away. It’s a Bond film, so all the well known beats will certainly be there, but how will Rami Malek‘s villain play into the finale? And what will become of M, Q and Moneypenny? Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas and Jeffrey Wright have also joined the cast.
After a couple of years of tricky development – including original director Danny Boyle leaving the project – No Time To Die has finally come together. After the slight disappointment of Spectre, will this get the franchise back on track and send Craig off to the sunset in style? We’ll find out on April 8, 2020.
