Lizzy Caplan and The Boys‘ Antony Starr are on board to starr – what? – in Cobweb, a thriller in development at Lionsgate. Samuel Bodin will direct from Chris Thomas Devlin‘s script that topped the 2018 Blood List – the list of best unproduced genre screenplays – that was also voted to the Black List the same year.
Cobweb is set in small town and focuses on a seemingly ordinary house where a timid young boy hears a mysterious tapping from inside the walls, and begins to suspect that his parents are hiding a terrible secret. Caplan and Starr will play the parents, while the boy’s substitute teacher will also play a key role.
Cleopatra Coleman, who just appeared in comedy The Argument, will portray the teacher while child actor Woody Norman plays the young boy. Roy Lee will produce the film under his Vertigo Entertainment banner along with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver of Point Grey.
“We are big believers in the horror business, and the continuous need for content so we are thrilled to be partnered with Vertigo and Point Grey in bringing Sam Bodin‘s first film to screen”, said Lionsgate’s Erin Westerman.
Caplan has always been a great and versatile actor, though she’s usually resided in TV, starring in shows such as Masters Of Sex, Party Down, and Castle Rock. Starr found success on Amazon’s The Boys, but prior to that played the lead on Banshee and starred in 2012 indie Wish You Were Here.
Production on Cobweb will reportedly begin later this month in Sofia, Bulgaria.
