26-year old DJ Nathan Dawe has won the MTV Push UK and IRE 2021 competition. Indeed, it is the first time that a DJ had come out on top in this high-level competition.
The artist began to play with music and started DJing at 9 years old and never looked back. As a tiny town inhabitant, he was obliged to begin with birthday parties, weddings and pubs gigs, and thanks to SoundCloud, he managed to build a loyal followership.
Thanks to his interesting musical universe, which stands out from others in this space, he became the first DJ without a radio show or hit single to sell out his own concert at the O2.
This year, he was the only DJ competing in the MTV Push UK & IRE competition, which also included other nominees such as 220 KID, Alfie Templeman, Arlo Parks, AWA, Bree Runway, Claudia Valentina, Griff, Inhaler and Pa Salieu.
Nathan Dawe has succeeded to gather 42,000 votes from Instagram to win the competition, and join the exclusive list of previous winners like Yungblud, Lewis Capaldi, Mabel, AJ Tracey, Anne-Marie and Krept and Konan.
Regarding this success, Nathan said: “Yo, it’s Nathan Dawe thank you so much for all your votes, it’s been amazing to see so much support. I can’t believe I’ve won MTV PUSH UK & IRE 2021! I just want to say a massive thank you to, obviously, all the fans that voted, I’ve collabed with a lot of big artists last year and this year so all the support from everywhere has not gone unnoticed”.
