First Trailer For Amy Poehler’s New Netflix Film ‘Moxie’ Arrives | Film Trailer

Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Amy Poehler‘s latest directorial effort, Moxie. The film revolves around Vivian, who tries to keep her head down from all the harassment happening in her high school.

But a new student inspires her to fight back, and she starts up an underground zine called ‘Moxie’. Banding together with other young women and allies, she attempts to stop the unacceptable behavior around her.

The appeal of this may depend on your tolerance for high school movies, but the trailer above looks like a great combo of coming-of-age comedy and social issue drama. Maybe it’s just the Bikini Kill soundtrack, but the trailer gives off vibes of an updated, more diverse version of those great late-90s female-led teen comedies like Bring It On, Jawbreaker, and Drop Dead Gorgeous.

The film is an adaptation of Jennifer Mathieu‘s novel of the same name, with Tamara Chestna and Dylan Meyer penning the script. This is Poehler’s latest collaboration with Netflix after writing the Natasha Lyonne series Russian Doll and her previous directorial effort, Wine Country, which seemed to fly under the radar but is a perfectly enjoyable comedy hangout.

Moxie stars newcomers Hadley Robinson and Alycia Pascual-Peña in the main two roles, but also boasts supporting performances from Ike Barinholtz, Marcia Gay Harden, Clark Gregg, and Poehler herself. The film hits Netflix on Wednesday, March 3.
