Tom Hardy To Star In Action Movie ‘Havoc’ At Netflix | Film News

Tom Hardy is the latest big name to jump on board a Netflix project. The actor will star and produce in Havoc, an action movie being directed by Gareth Evans, the man behind both of The Raid films.

The film gets into motion after a drug deal goes wrong, and a bruised detective must then fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while at the same time unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city. So yes, this very much sounds like The Raid again, but for fans of that film, that’s not a problem at all.

Evans has actually already worked with Netflix before, on his 2018 folk horror film Apostle, which starred Dan Stevens. He’s coming off acclaimed series Gangs Of London.

In addition to writing and directing this film, he’ll likely take on editing and fight choreography duties as he did on The Raid, which helped introduce the Indonesian martial art Pencak Silat into world cinema.

Evans will produce Havoc under his One More One Productions banner along with Ed Talfan of Severn Screen and Aram Tertzakian of XYZ Films, as well as Hardy.

This project continues Netflix’s relationship with XYZ, which also includes past films I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore, Mercy, and The Night Comes For Us.

Hardy is always game for any project he’s in, so teaming up with Evans for two hours of pure action should be pretty fun. Netflix are consistently developing action projects, so it makes sense that they’d re-team with Evans, but this time in the genre he’s most comfortable in. This will probably be a big hit – at least by Netflix’s numbers – when it eventually arrives.

Hardy is coming off Josh Trank‘s divisive Capone, and will soon be seen in Venom: Let There Be Carnage alongside Woody Harrelson. Next up for him is Rupert Sanders‘ war movie The Things They Carried.
