Since the beginning of the pandemic, the music industry has suffered with festivals and music events being cancelled. 2021 was going to be the year to have everything rescheduled, however, the pandemic is still present and gives too many risks for the organisers.
The Spanish festival, which takes place in the city of Barcelona, Primavera Sound has just cancelled its 2021 festival because of the pandemic. Organisers have already told the clients that their tickets will be available for the 2022 festival. This decision was very painful for the organisers who had no choice.
For the 2021 edition, they had an all-star line-up to make up for the 2020 edition that had previously been cancelled, featuring Pavement, the Strokes, Bad Bunny, Tyler the Creator, Tame Impala, FKA twigs, Charli XCX, Jamie xx, and Gorillaz.
The line-up was particularly strong because the Primavera Sound festival, which was originally dated for the weekend of June 5-6, was also meant to be celebrating their 20th festival this year. As said above, tickets will be available for the 2022 edition, but refunds will also be possible from June 2, when the festival will announce the next edition’s line-up.
The organisers posted a message on their Instagram account to explain the situation and especially why they took the difficult decision but to also give hope to all festivals lovers for next year. We can only hope and keep our fingers crossed to get all these festival back for sure in 2022.
