The first trailer for the film Zola has been released by A24. Zola is a comedy-drama that made a splash at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, but it took almost a year for the film to be released in cinemas due to the pandemic.
Zola is an adaptation based on the Twitter feed posted by A’Ziah Wells King that went viral in October 2015. She wrote 148 tweets that told the story of two days in Florida with a stripper called Jessica.
This had then inspired journalist David Kushner to write Zola Tells All: The Real Story Behind the Greatest Stripper Saga Ever Tweeted.
A24 has now made a movie out of it, the plot is about Zola and her new friend Jessica, two strippers from Detroit who go to Tampa to earn money, and then follow some crazy adventures.
In the trailer, we can see the chemistry between Zola, played by actress Taylor Paige, and Jessica, played by Riley Keough.
Taylor Paige was recently seen in her supporting role in the Oscar-nominated film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Riley Keough has appeared in films such as American Honey and The Lodge.
The film also stars Nelcie Souffrant, Nasir Rahim, Amelia Rose Monteagudo, Ari’el Stachel, Colman Domingo, Nick Braun, Jason Mitchell, TS Madison and Tommy Foxhill.
Zola is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 30.
