Bill Murray Joins Tilda Swinton In Wes Anderson’s Next Film

Wes Anderson‘s The French Dispatch only just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, but the director is already looking ahead to his next project. Having already cast Tilda Swinton, frequent collaborator Bill Murray has now joined the cast. Pretty much everything about the film is currently under wraps, except that it will be set in Spain.

Murray has previously appeared in eight Anderson films, so while he’s notorious for not signing contracts – and thus there’s no guarantee if he’ll turn up on set on day 1. It’s happened before! – it’s a pretty good bet he’s happy to be on board another film made by his good friend.

Rumours persist that this new film is a love story of sorts, but that’s not confirmed. Sets have already been built, spotted around Chinchon, Spain. Despite the film reportedly not being a Western, the sets reportedly bear a resemblance to desert landscapes. The film was originally going to be shot in Rome, but the decision was made to switch to Spain earlier this year.

This film will actually begin shooting in August before The French Dispatch is released theatrically in October. The film was of course affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, originally scheduled to premiere at Cannes 2020 and released wide last year before being delayed.

News about Anderson’s new project will surely begin trickling out once production begins. Murray will also be seen in Ghostbusters: Afterlife in November, and will appear in The Now, the upcoming series directed by the Farrelly Brothers.
