UK band Sarpa Salpa has released a new single titled “Dreaming”.
According to vocalist Marcus Marooth, “Dreaming” is “about the stark emotional difference I feel from when we are stood on stage performing, to difficult times in our personal lives and struggling to make ends meet. As the song progresses, it refers to our reliance on each other as friends, as well as our partners and families whose invaluable support keeps us going“.
Fresh off their first USA shows, playing eight shows in five days at the coveted SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, where the band won over a host of new supporters in the industry including a mention in Billboard Magazine that praised their fresh “indie disco” sound.
In the UK, Sarpa Salpa kicked off with a sold-out show at their hometown of Northampton and dates at festivals like The Great Escape, 110 Above Festival and fast-selling headline shows in London, Manchester, and Bristol over the summer
The band was formed in the town of Northampton in England, and they have evolved to achieve their current form. George Neath (guitar/synth), Marcus Marooth (vocals/guitar), Meg Amirghiasvand (bass/synth) and Charlie Doe (drums) are four friends whose individual tastes and talents fit together perfectly to create Sarpa Salpa.
With influences ranging from indie to pop to rock, Sarpa Salpa have crafted a distinctive sound that has won them a loyal fan base across the UK and beyond.
With extensive supported by the likes of BBC 6 Music legend Steve Lamacq and BBC Radio 1 tastemaker Sarpa Salpa has amassed an impressive array of radio accolades. Sarpa Salpa’s music has also been used on E4’s series Made in Chelsea several times bringing their blend of indie disco to a whole new audience.
Sarpa Salpa are known for their energetic and powerful live show. The band has played nearly 200 shows around the UK, selling out venues from Manchester to Portsmouth.
They were awarded the PPL Momentum Fund in 2021 to release their EP “A Feeling You Can’t Replace,” which has received over 250,000 streams on Spotify and Apple Music, as well as 100 12″ vinyl selling out in 48 hours. With over 1,000,000 streams across their releases Sarpa Salpa look set to have a huge year in 2022.
