Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield shared the stage at last weekend’s Oscars when presenting an award; now it looks like they will be sharing the screen. The actors are each in talks to star in We Live In Time, a romance film in the works at StudioCanal.
John Crowley (Brooklyn) is on board to direct from a script by Nick Payne (The Last Letter From Your Lover). Plot details are mostly under wraps, but the movie is being described as a “funny, deeply moving and immersive love story.” That’s all we know right now, but if the deals with Pugh and Garfield close, the intention is to begin production later this year.
Pugh had a big 2022 with Don’t Worry Darling and The Wonder, and is already primed for a strong 2023, as she’ll be seen in Christopher Nolan‘s Oppenheimer, Zach Braff drama A Good Person, and Dune: Part Two. She will then reprise her role as assassin Yelena Belova for Marvel Studio’s Thunderbolts.
Garfield’s 2022 consisted only of a lead role in Hulu true crime series Under the Banner of Heaven, but he had a couple of big releases in late 2021, including Spider-Man: No Way Home and his Oscar nominated role in Tick, Tick…Boom!
