Ava DuVernay Barbie Doll Already Sold Out | Film News

The Barbie doll made in director Ava DuVernay’s likeness was originally a part of Mattel’s Shero project – a one of kind collection that honoured six inspirational women from Variety‘s Power of Women Luncheon, and is now reportedly sold out. The other women who had dolls created were actress and activist Emmy Rossum, Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth, 5-year-old fashion designer Sydney Kaiser, country singer Trisha Yearwood, and Eva Chen former editor-in-chief of Lucky magazine.

The honorees were given a custom-made doll in their likeness to auction for a charity of their own choice. But it seems that the world wanted more and now DuVernay’s doll is available for purchase. I have to admit, it’s perfect timing – but it’s also for a great cause. DuVernay posted a picture of the doll on Twitter and added that all proceeds from sales of the doll will benefit Color of Change and Witness.org. But what else do you expect from DuVernay – accomplished director, producer, writer (the list goes on) and trailblazer?
