We have previously reported that Cate Blanchett, was potentially up for a role in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. Reports informed us that the roles she was in consideration for were either the role as an Asgardian named Valkyrie or an unnamed female villain.
Although, nothing has been officially confirmed yet, it seems that the latter is closer to the truth. In a moment of uncontrolled excitement, Mark Ruffalo, might have confirmed the rumours to be true. While speaking to ET at the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party, Ruffalo got a little too excited when gushing over his potential co-star and let a few things slip in the process – not that we’re complaining. This is thrilling news.
“I’m so thrilled. I saw her at the Governors’ banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, ‘Please, please, please make this work!’ She’s just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting”.
So, which baddie could she be playing? There is the alleged daughter of Loki, Hela, who was later appointed Goddess of Death and given rulership over the dead. Then, there is Amora The Enchantress, who is one of Thor’s greatest enemies – possessing abilities like superhuman strength, speed, accelerated healing and a range of mystical powers. She will surely give Thor a run for his money.
Taika Waititi is directing while Chris Hemsworth, will be back reprising his role as the Asgardian god of thunder. Tom Hiddleston and Mark Ruffalo will be joining him for another whirlwind adventure. Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on October 27, 2017.
