The golden days of Netflix viewers accessing region-locked content with VPN and proxy services are coming to an end it seems. Reports from Australia suggest that the US streaming giant is already clamping down on those accessing their US catalogue through proxy means, users of unblocking app uFlix served a message of:
“You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy. Please turn off any of these services and try again.”
When trying to use it to log onto Netflix US. Peter Dujan – managing director of uFlix commented that he believes Netflix is merely testing blocking methods for the time being:
“We suspect that they are blocking known IP ranges and gaining additional information from the user’s browser or mobile device and comparing it to the proxy and user IP addresses”
