X Factor Winners Shayne Ward And Joe McElderry Think ‘X Factor’ Needs A Rest | TV News

Simon Cowell strikes me as a man who likes to dance to the beat of his own drum, i.e. he calls the shots and makes his own decisions. But perhaps he should listen to the advice of former X Factor champions Shayne Ward and Joe McElderry who have their own opinions on the fate of the show. Both Ward and McElderry think that X Factor needs to take a ‘break’ if it’s to sustain its pulling power with the punters.

Speaking at the National Television Awards yesterday (January 20), Ward, who won the contest in 2005, believes that a break will make The X Factor “come back even stronger.” 2009 winner McElderry, speaking to Digital Spy earlier this week, believes the show needs “a breather” and that it should go back to basics and just be about the “singing” again. Doesn’t sound like he’s a fan of the Six Chair Challenge, like former X Factor host Dermot O’Leary.
